Low Mileage Collector Car Sales are Hot

I don’t know if you have been to any of the auctions lately, or watched them on TV, but the collector market is very strong right now.

Just this last weekend, Barrett-Jackson held its annual Las Vegas Auction and hit another record with $48 Million in Sales. Among the notable collector cars sold during the three-day auction were a 2015 McLaren P1 which sold for $1,567,500, and a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster that brought in $1,045,000.

But it was not just the super high-end cars hitting new highs, as more than 700 vehicles were sold for a total of over $46 million. And then there were the 284 pieces of automobilia that brought in over $884,000, and another $775,000 was raised through the sale of four charity vehicles.

Notable Corvette sales were a 1973 Coupe that sold for $137,500, A 2020 3LT Coupe for $154,000, A 1967 400hp for $275,000 and a 1963 SWC for $396,000!

But its not just Corvettes that are doing well, as most American Muscle cars are setting records also. At that same auction, a 1968 Camaro Z/28 sold for $81,400, and 1987 Buick GNX with 8.7 miles for 275,000!

GM Is ‘Not Even Close’ to Keeping Up
With C8 Corvette Demand

C8 Corvette is a massive hit for GM, but has also been plagued by production delays since it was introduced. With many orders to fill and supply dwindling, it’s no surprise the company is selling cars faster than it can make them.

Chevrolet marketing executive Tony Johnson recently told GM Authority that, as it stands, the company is “not even close” to keeping up with demand for their newly-reconfigured sports car. The Corvette is consistently among America’s fastest-selling cars and issues are still disrupting the production process. Lets hope GM has a plan on how to increase production and keep the price down..
