C&D’s Top 13 Best Exotic Sports Cars
Each year, Car and Driver tests hundreds of vehicles using rigorous instrumented evaluations and real-world driving impressions from its expert editors. Rankings are based on more than 200 data points, including acceleration, handling, comfort, cargo capacity, fuel efficiency, value, and, of course, how enjoyable each car is to drive. Their goal is simple: to give readers a complete, trustworthy picture of the cars that matter most at any price.
At the top of the 2026 list is the jaw-dropping Ferrari F80, which earned a perfect 10 out of 10 score and starts at a staggering $3,735,000. YES, IT IS OVER Three Million Dollars!
Right behind it, and turning just as many heads, is the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Also earning a perfect 10 out of 10, the ZR1 starts at just $178,195, making it an extraordinary value in the exotic sports car world.
Car and Driver summed it up perfectly: “If the Z06 is a naturally aspirated scalpel, the twin-turbo Corvette ZR1 is a 1064-hp meat cleaver with laser-guided handling.”
And in their overview: “Times have changed since Car and Driver dubbed the first ZR1 ‘the Corvette from hell’ back in 1990, but those three characters still carry a heavy burden. The 2025 Corvette C8 ZR1 shoulders that load proficiently with 1064 horsepower emanating from its mid-mounted twin-turbo V-8 and a finely honed chassis.”

This Week’s Highlighted Cars
1982 Collector Edition
N.C.R.S. Top Flight award in 2017
The ‘82 model year was a significant one for Corvette. It marked the end of the line for the third generation. At 14 years, it was (and remains) the longest model run in Corvette history! To commemorate this event, a special “Collector Edition” was introduced. It came with basically every available option and was the first Corvette to have an MSRP of over $20k. The C.E. came finished in a beautiful Silver Beige exterior with a brown hood and side stripes, “Collector Edition” emblems, and turbine style aluminum wheels that were reminiscent of the bolt on’s offered in ’67. On the inside, the theme continued with Silver Beige seats and door panels.
But what also set the C.E. apart from the base Corvettes offered in ’82 was an opening rear hatch. The first and only time this feature was offered on a Shark! Also introduced in ’82 was the L83 Crossfire injected engine.
This 1982 Collector Edition achieved an N.C.R.S. Top Flight award in 2017, and it currently shows only 30k miles on the odometer. The car is powered by the aforementioned L83 350ci Crossfire V8 linked to a four-speed automatic transmission (also a first for Corvette), and a Posi-Traction differential, removable bronze glass roof panels, a Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, power windows, and air conditioning.
The car spent over 40 years in the South West before we acquired it.

1965 White Tanker
Once again, Corvette Mike has unearthed the truly rare and unusual!
This ’65 Corvette Coupe is something that most have never seen before!
Originally delivered to Roger Dean Chevrolet in Huntington W.VA, to a Dr. J. Evan Sadler Jr. A forensic pathologist who worked for the state (think C.S.I.) The good Dr. must have fancied himself somewhat of a “White Knight” that would be able to travel all over W.VA in comfort and performance, making limited fuel stops! Because this ’65 Ermine White w/White vinyl interior Corvette is equipped with the ultra-rare 36-gallon fuel tank option. One of only 41 Coupes so equipped! It’s believed that to get this Tanker built, it required a C.O.P.O. direct from Zora himself!
It also happens to be loaded with some very desirable equipment. Such as:
L79 327/350hp engine, Air Conditioning, M20 4-speed manual transmission, Posi-Traction rear end, Soft Ray tinted glass, Teakwood steering wheel, Telescoping steering column, Radio delete, Power brakes, Power steering, Power windows, Kelsey-Hayes knock off wheels, Goldwall bias ply tires.
Amazing factory documentation includes:
Dealer Order, Dealer Invoice, N.C.R.S. Shipping Data Report
The car has been meticulously frame-off restored and recently scored a 98pt. N.C.R.S. Top Flight at the National Convention in Las Vegas, NV! No easy feat!
And the accolades have been impressive and many:
Bloomington Gold,
N.C.R.S. Regional Top Flight, N.C.R.S. National Top Flight,
N.C.R.S. Duntov Mark of Excellence Award.
