GM isn’t ruling out the use of the Zora name in the future.

Corvette fans have been buzzing with anticipation over Chevrolet’s latest high-performance masterpiece: the 2026 ZR1X, but alongside the excitement, there’s been one big question on everyone’s mind: Why isn’t it called the Zora?

After all, Zora Arkus-Duntov, the “Father of the Corvette”, has long been associated with the dream of a mid-engine, world-class supercar. Wouldn’t this new AWD, twin-turbo hybrid beast be the perfect car to bear his name?

The ZR1 badge is already legendary in Corvette circles. First appearing in 1970 on the C3 as a factory race-ready package, and later resurrected with the iconic C4 and then the supercharged C6 and C7 monsters. The ZR1 name signals extreme performance, cutting-edge tech, and track prowess. The addition of the “X” in ZR1X distinguishes this latest model as something entirely new: a hybrid, all-wheel-drive Corvette combining the raw power of a twin-turbo V8 with electric motors and cutting-edge chassis tech.

The ZR1X pushes the boundaries of what a Corvette can be, but GM clearly believes they haven’t reached the final frontier just yet. And when they do, you can bet the name “Zora” will be waiting..

Desta & Jeremy D’s New to them 2017 Grand Sport

I We had a great experience working with Troy at Corvette Mike. I met Mike before a couple of different shows, an NCRS event, and the debut of the C8 at the Peterson Museum. Finally had the opportunity to actually buy a car from them and it was a great experience. We had been looking for a particular color scheme and options on a C7 for about five years.

When the right car finally came up, I was happy to see that it was at Corvette Mike, and we had a great experience working with Troy, who is extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. He was willing to work with our tight schedule and limited availability to drive from Ventura County and pick up the car on a specific weekend. All of that worked out great, and I know that even cut into some of his personal schedule, but we were able to make the best of the situation for both parties.

After that, we did have the infamous C7 cracked wheel issue on 2 wheels on this car within the first 150 miles of ownership. There was no haggling or even questioning the issue at all, and Troy & his parts team made this right for us as quickly as they possibly could. We lucked out and that the wheels arrived Exactly on time for the again tight schedule that we had for a family event that was coming up this past weekend.

I truly appreciate the professionalism and friendly business relationship we had in completing this transaction and making any problem we had right. We are now a two Corvette family ? Our two young daughters now are enjoying fighting over who gets to ride in Dad’s red C6 Z06, or Mom’s admiral blue C7 convertible.

Thank you guys for the great service and we hope to do business again with you soon.

Desta & Jeremy D.
