The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the track-honed Ford GT faced off in a gripping drag race, courtesy of CarWow, pitting raw power against meticulous engineering. While not their prime playground, this showdown was riveting, initially favoring the Ford with its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 generating 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the Corvette Z06 boasts a roaring 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8, churning out 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Despite the GT’s weight advantage of roughly 150 lbs, and a torque boost from twin turbos, the Z06 took the lead from the start. Yet, the GT’s torque kicked in, barely securing victory with both cars clocking a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds, a win measured in minuscule time differences.
The rolling half-mile race from 50 mph was less forgiving for the GT due to turbo lag and some driver-related hiccups. In gear and boosting, the GT demonstrated its prowess but only marginally outperformed the Z06.
In the financial realm, the Corvette Z06 stands out as a steal. While the Ford GT demanded $450,000 when new, its exclusivity through a limited 1,350-unit production run led to application process were Ford decided if you were important enough to own one, and hefty resale values, with the final GT Mk IV hitting $1.7 million. Contrastingly, the 2024 Z06 offers a performance punch at an MSRP of $111,795, though production challenges have nudged its market value.
The Corvette’s legacy as a performance bargain holds true, despite its production hurdles, standing as a relative steal compared to other million-dollar super cars in today’s market.

Hi Troy, my boyhood dream was to own a Corvette and watched Route 66. I finely bought my first vette right after I retired.
Year End Specials Beautifully restored L76 327/340hp This beautiful example has been extensively frame-off restored and it includes receipts and photos of the process. The car is optioned with a matching #’s L76 327/340hp engine mated to a M20 4-speed manual transmission and a 3.70 Positracton rear end. Additional equipment includes am/fm radio, power brakes w/dual master cylinder, power steering, Teak steering wheel, and knock off wheels wrapped in radial tires. Spectacular, frame-off restoration! If you wanted to see the restoration of a ’54 Corvette taken to its highest degree, then look no further than the Polo White example presented right here! This is a Corvette worthy of a Concours D’Elegance. It was restored with the idea of ironing out all of the rough edges early Corvettes are known for. The paint is near perfect, as is the interior. Under the hood is a 12-volt electrical system that enable the car to start up quickly and easily. Even the gaps around the hood, doors and trunk are aligned with precision! and the underside is just as nice as the top side! The owner spared no expense in making this the best ’54 you’ve ever laid your eyes on. |

Great Gifts for the Holidays Comic of the Week Some Random Thoughts The scream in your head will never be out of breath. If you were a book, what title would it have. It is very important to have someone who lets you be what you are and nourishes your mind and your soul, not your ego. Recent Testimonials Corvette Mike is a great place to buy a car or get yours serviced! I came into service my 2003 corvette convertible as it had intermittent starting problems. They diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly and at a very reasonable price. I talked to sales about possibly selling my car and was given excellent advice by Troy and decided to continue enjoying it for now. Very professional and I highly recommend. Great job replacing my clutch. Took longer than expected but, unlike Chevy service, I didn’t have to bring it back two more times to fix it correctly. It was done right the first time. Chris kept me up to date and did a great job. I have been so happy with the service department and Chris. I took my 1977 Corvette to them to have the air conditioning converted and a full diagnostic done. They were honest and fair and gave me lots of options on what was a priority and what could wait. They also helped me decide on what they could do in order to keep the labor costs down. I was very impressed with their honesty and professionalism. |
