Chevrolet’s factory is back up and building the C8 again. During a presentation at the National Corvette Museum’s Annual Corvette Bash, Chevrolet released some detailed information on how customers are ordering their new Vettes.

Most people are ordering the loaded with the 3LT package (44%), followed by 2LT (40%) and the budget-minded 1LT (16%) in last place.

As for colors, Torch Red took top place with 25%, Arctic White with 15%, Black with 12%, Sebring Orange and Elkhart Lake Blue at 7% each, Rapid Blue, Ceramic Matrix, Blade Silver and Shadow Gray all at 6%, Long Beach Red with 5% and in last place was a tie with both Accelerate Yellow and Zeus Bronze at 3% each.

As for interior colors, Jet back was the most common at 28%, Adrenaline Red took 2nd place at 25%, Jet Black with Red and Natural tied at 12%, Sky Cool Gray was in 9% of the cars, 6% had Natural Dipped, 4% for the Two-Tone Blue, Jet Black with Yellow 3% and last place was Morello Red with just 1%.

People were not very creative on seat belt colors, as 63% of the Vettes were ordered with stock Jet back color. 18% had Adrenaline Red, 6% each for the Natural and Blue option, with both Yellow and Orange coming in last at 4% each.

Even though the convertible was announced later, they still got 17% of the orders. Unfortunately, these will not start being built until July. 56% of these were ordered with the 3LT option and 36% with the 2LT.

58% added the Front Lift option. And last but not least, 54% of the cars will have Z51 with Mag-Ride, 22% with just Z51, and 24% base.

Mike Thumbs up

What Mike likes about this Corvette:

“This particular 1963 Corvette, with factory air conditioning, is stunning and correctly restored to the highest level! I knew the previous owner very well who restored it.

Achieving the Duntov Award is proof enough to the testament of his dedication to the hobby.

The car has a great history and factory paperwork proving its rare options. He was a true Corvette collector and amassed an amazing collection of every year from 1953-1967!!  I have to say though the 1963 Daytona blue split window has to be the great American icon!”

1963 blue corvette split window coupe interior

Whoever ordered this Split Window Coupe from the St. Louis factory back in the day was more concerned with comfort than all-out, tire melting performance.  Because he checked just about every box that had anything to do with the ease of driving it.  First on the list was the optional 327/300hp engine mated up to a Powerglide automatic transmission.  Then, of course, the aforementioned (and very rare with only 278 units built) air conditioning,  Followed by power brakes, power steering, power windows, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, and whitewall tires.

The car has been meticulously and correctly frame-off restored with no expense spared!  Its Daytona Blue exterior gleams in the sun!  And it’s just a great a driver!  This was the ultimate Corvette cruiser back in ’63.
