There was an entirely different kind of vehicle being featured at the National Corvette Museum today.
With Veterans Day coming up, the museum is hosting an event entitled Vets ‘N Vettes to honor those who have served.
“It’s focused on veterans and Corvettes. You don’t have to be a veteran to come and you don’t have to own a Corvette to come,” said National Corvette Museum Marketing Manager Katie Frassinelli.
Military men and women showed up with several types of vehicles to show to the public.
“We’re out here basically to show our support for the veterans. Display what we do and how they system works and answer any questions,” said Kentucky National Guard Staff Sergeant Joshua Page.
At the Corvette Museum, people can actually get a first hand look at these brand new military vehicles.
They can even get into the vehicles.
A close up look at them may just help everyone to understand what those who serve this country do out on assignment.
Understanding leads to a deeper appreciation for these veterans.
Frassinelli said, “we just want to show our appreciation for people that support Corvette and defend our freedom.”
It’s even an honor for current service men to be out here.
Page explained, “it’s a very rewarding experience. It’s hard to explain to be able to show the support for other veterans who have sacrificed a lot throughout their lives and their families. It’s definitely a privilege for us to be here to show support for them as well as for the museum and all that they’ve done.”
People can also purchase flags in honor of someone who served or is currently serving in the military.
“All military, firefighters and police officers and their immediate families get in free,” said Frassinelli.
There all several events in honor of Veterans Day going on at the museum this week and weekend.
Admission is $10.
