STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Oh, the humanity!
A 17-year-old burglar from Manhattan hit the joyride jackpot when he found the keys to a red Corvette inside a Brighton Heights home — then promptly crashed it into five other vehicles, police allege.
Police on Wednesday arrested Freddie Rosario, of the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, in connection with the July 28 crime.
As police tell it, Rosario broke into a house on Silver Lake Road at about 10 p.m., where he took a laptop, jewelry, and the keys to a red 2005 Chevy Corvette.
He took said Corvette, crashed it into five separate vehicles, and ran off, police said.
Rosario was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and five counts of leaving the scene of an accident, according to Peter N. Spencer, a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
