By far, one of the most unique and coolest car shows of the year is the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) held the weekend of November 18-19, 2017, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. And just like every MCACN show, this one featured some of the most rare and historical muscle cars on the planet.
Being the 50th anniversary of the muscle cars from 1967, 13 of the rarest and most significant first-gen Camaros in existence were on display. We are talking about the most sought after 1967-’69 F-bodies ever built. The display included fully documented “one-offs” and “firsts,” with many of those being rarely seen race cars—some shown to the public for the first time.
Special invitational displays were plenty and included many historical and rare vehicles from the Big Three. The one that piqued our interest was the 1967 Camaro Z/28 Invitational. This group showcased early examples, including the very first Z/28 ever built. Talk about a rare treat; the historical importance of this car is pure royalty. There were only 602 Z/28 Trans Am-inspired cars built, making them among the most desirable GM muscle cars ever.
