The Corvette plant has been shut down since late July but the Bowling Green Daily News reports the assembly plant is scheduled to reopen on November 6th. Even though the workers will start to return to the plant, they are not scheduled to start producing cars until later in the month, depending on training.
The 2018 Corvette will have a very short run this year, as on January 23rd, the plant will begin assembly of the 2019 Corvette. As this is a very early start to the 2019 model year, rumors abound. Some say that the new ZR-1 will be a 2019 model, while some have gone even more wild and expect the highly-anticipated mid-engine C8 to be released. The changeover date for the plant also comes about a week after the NAIAS press preview.
The C8 rumors have been rampant recently with more spy shots popping up recently and some have suggested the car could be introduced at the North American International Auto Show.
Of course, the mid-engine Corvette could always be a 2020 model and that would give the plant plenty of time to build the Corvette ZR1.
