Kennewick, Washington – Corvette event planned to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation

Cars, good wishes and donations are coming together to help ill children in the Tri-Cities achieve their dreams.

Last month, all three McCurley dealership locations in the Tri-Cities raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through vehicle sales.

A portion of the proceeds from each went into a fund, and the names of all the buyers were written on big posters and displayed in the showrooms.

They will be displayed in the main tent during the third annual Corvettes On The Columbia car show from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Columbia Park.

The car show is sponsored by the 3-Rivers Corvette Club and McCurley Integrity dealerships.

“Last year we set a record at 113 cars, but this year will be a record breaker. We’ll have about 185 corvettes from five states and Canada,” said Matt Price, corvette show coordinator and director.

“There will be Corvettes from 1953 to the present. Every generation of Corvette will be represented,” he said.

At the Saturday car show, the 3-Rivers Corvette Club will hold a silent auction from 10 a.m. to noon for the Tri-Cities Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“There’s over 35 items to bid on including an 8-liter bottle of The Hogue Cellars 2003 merlot. It’s what they call their Garfield bottle and has Garfield the cat etched on it. They bottle these just for donations and it’s estimated value is over $1,000,” Price said.

There’s also a family movie package which includes pizza, the movies and candy to munch on. A Horn Rapids golf package with lots of golfing accessories also is up for bid, as is one that includes everything you need for a poker party from a 300-piece poker set, to pretzels and napkins.

On Saturday evening, head for Clover Island Inn in Kennewick for more fun.

At 5:30 p.m., there will be an outdoor comedy show by Brad Upton. Admission is $15 at the door and includes a dance, beginning at 7 p.m., with music by the Grove City Band. They’re a high energy dance band which plays the top 40 hits as well as rhythm and blues.

At 6:45 p.m., representativesof McCurley Integrity Dealerships of Tri-Cities will present a check from their May Wheels to Wishes fundraiser to the staff of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The check also will include proceeds from the silent auction at the car show and donations from the various car clubs attending the show.

This is a 21-and-older event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
