Democratic candidate for may of Wilmington believes he has the solution to Fisker Automotive’s woes and Delaware’s worries over the project to build a hybrid car at the former GM plant near Newport.
Scott R. Spencer says the answer to uncertainty over the project is the military. By getting Fisker to focus on Military Electric Vehicles — so-called “MEVs” — there’s a better chance for long-term financial success, he says.
“Research and development of Military Electric Vehicles will produce components, technology and manufacturing processes that can help lower the costs for Fisker’s consumer cars,” Spencer reasons. “MEVs can also help create a market for electric police cars for Fisker.”
