The Chevrolet Corvette’s roots in racing will be highlighted at an event in California in August 2013 as part of the vehicle’s 60th anniversary celebration.
The Corvette will be featured as part of the 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca track in Monterey, Calif. GM said it expects “a large contingent of Corvette racers” to participate in the event.
Corvette traces its racing legacy back to 1956, when Corvettes engineered by Zora Arkus-Duntov first competed in an endurance race.
“The Monterey Peninsula will rumble to life with Corvettes of every era,” said Gill Campbell, CEO of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in a statement.
