To commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette, Action Express Racing will pay tribute to the iconic sports car with a special edition graphics package for the inaugural running of the Chevrolet GRAND-AM Detroit 200 at Belle Isle this weekend. Action Express will transform its two familiar red, white and blue Corvette Daytona Prototypes for the event with commemorative decals and accent pieces.
The cars will feature an arctic white exterior with full-length racing stripes in pearl silver blue. The No. 5 and No. 9 Corvette DPs will also keep true to their team identity by using special edition numbers and body work with red and blue accent pieces.
“We are so very pleased to have our cars represent the 60th Anniversary Corvette in honor of Chevrolet, and in recognition of all they have done for the Rolex Series,” said team owner Bob Johnson. “I’m sure that our drivers and crew members will take extra pride participating in the Belle Isle event with our cars fitted with the special edition graphics package.”
One of the drivers who is excited to sport the special edition graphics is Darren Law. It’ll be a weekend of change for Law as he not only will drive a different looking car, but one with a different number as well. Law will pilot the No. 9 Corvette DP for the first time at Belle Isle, co-driving with Joao Barbosa. Terry Borcheller and David Donohue will drive the No. 5.
“I think it’s really cool to have our cars wrapped with the 60th anniversary graphics,” said Law. “If they go as fast as they look we’ll be in business.”
Action Express’ drivers will be available to autograph limited edition hero cards for fans at the Belle Isle event, featuring the commemorative 60th Anniversary Corvette graphics. The autograph signing is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2.
