WORTH CO., IA — Authorities are investigating a serious crash late Sunday night in Worth County.
Shortly before 11 p.m. authorities received a call of a person trapped in a burning vehicle. According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, rescuers found two 1980 Chevrolet Corvettes had crashed after one rear-ended the other. The two vehicles were eastbound on County Road A-39 west of Nuthatch. The Corvette driven by 46-year-old Michael Chodur, of Kensett, ran into the Corvette driven by 57-year-old Lynn Weedman, of Glenville, Minnesota.
Troopers say the Weedman vehicle went into the north ditch and caught fire. The Chodur vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road, also catching fire.
Weedman was taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City by helicopter. Chodur was taken to the same hospital by the Mason City Fire Department. There is no word yet on their conditions.
The Iowa State Patrol, Manly and Mason City Fire Departments, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, and Northwood Police Department responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
